INMACOM is proud to support the participation of three young professionals in the Wetskills Water Challenge

INMACOM is proud to support the participation of three young professionals in the Wetskills Water Challenge, hosted for the first time in Eswatini by the Joint River Basin Authorities – Project Board with support from other partners including INMACOM.

The Wetskills challenge is a two-weeks pressure-cooker programme for students and young professionals with a passion for water. Their main challenge: To find innovative and out-of-the-box solutions for water challenges in a changing world. The program fosters real time cooperation, networking, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise, creating or expanding participants’ international networks. The study cases are provided and formulated by Case owners, companies and organizations with a dedicated challenge in a local situation.

This landmark event brings together 14 participants from diverse locations and backgrounds, working in transdisciplinary and multicultural teams to tackle real-life water cases. Over two weeks (22 February – 6 March 2026), participants will collaborate intensively to design innovative, out-of-the-box solutions for water challenges in a changing world. This collaborative effort aims to promote sustainable water governance in the water sector and across shared river systems.

The sponsored young professionals are supported under the INMACOM GEF – 8 project which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), with the UNDP Eswatini, and the Global Water Partnership (GWP-SA) partnering with INMACOM in the implementation. As the project custodian, INMACOM plays a central role in ensuring coordinated management and long-term stewardship of the shared vital basins of the Incomati and Maputo rivers.
