The 71st Meeting of the INMACOM Technical Steering Committee, Incomáti and Maputo Water Course Commission takes place today in Mbombela, South Africa, attended by the three member countries of this entity, the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of Mozambique.
This meeting aims to discuss various topics relating to the management of water resources, as well as jointly seeking solutions for the sustainable and equitable management of water and the main issues that affect the management practices of this resource in the region.
Along this path, the Committee approved the Catuane underground water resources Development Project, the Comprehensive Water Sharing Agreement Project and endorsed the Captive Fish Production Project, which could help countries to take advantage of reservoirs for production and fish marketing.
The Committee also considered information on the status of water levels stored in the different dams located in the Incomati and Maputo river basins, as well as water quality and river flows. Therefore, the Committee urged the three Member States to continue working together to monitor water quality.
It should be noted that it was also a subject of discussion Women in Water Diplomacy. Were part of the meeting Commissioners, Delegates and Technicians from Eswatini, Mozambique and South Africa.
